Revision "AM",
09/28/2006
September 29, 30, & Oct. 1
Sept 27 Update
Note: Many adults filled out waivers for their cubs but only
printed their name rather than signing, making the waivers
invalid. Please check the table below and if there is a red block
in your information, you should download new forms, sign them and bring
them with you.
Sept 26 Update
Weekend Weather (http://www.weather.com/weather/weekend/27305?from=36hr_topnav_undeclared) -
Currently mostly Sunny Fri. & Sat., Partly cloudy on Sun.
Sept 25 Update:
- The Adult waiver form is now available on the pack website, as
well as the parental consent. Each adult attending must have
signed an Adult Waiver (multiple adults may sign the same form)
and each child must have their own parental consent form
signed. You can check the attendance table below to see if we
have received all forms for everyone attending in your family. If
not, then download, print, complete, sign, and bring with you.
- Parental Consent
- Adult VIR Waiver
- Entering VIR - There is only one gate to enter the
facility. Upon entering you will want to proceed to the "Patriot
Towers" area for camping.
Waivers:
Entry into the in-field and pit area requires that each adult sign a
waiver. These waivers were available for signature at the Pack
Meeting on Sept. 21. If you are attending the VIR trip, but
missed the pack meeting, you must print out, complete, sign and bring
the waivers.
Parents are required to sign a waiver for each cub or minor, which you can download HERE (http://www.pack334.org/public/docs/VIR_Parental_Consent.pdf). Adult waivers are HERE. Adult VIR Waiver, (http://www.pack334.org/public/docs/Release_waiver.pdf)

Special note: One of our cubs has a father racing in this event. Please come prepared to CHEER!
This September Pack 334 will be revisiting the "Virginia
International Raceway" (http://www.virclub.com/vir/).
Be sure and also look at their VIR
Guide Page (http://www.virclub.com/guide/),
which gives a somewhat different view of things.
This outing consists of making the approximately 1.5 hour trip to VIR,
just north of historic Milton
NC,
and tent camping on the infield of the raceway. VIR is donating the
camping for free and entrance to all cubs and siblings under 12 is
free.
There will be a $15.00 fee per adults. This fee covers the entire
weekend. Payment will be made at the Raceway, but you must be on
the list we provide to VIR to receive your discount.
NOTE: To receive the Pack
discount for Free Camping you must notify the TrailBoss as per the
instructions above AND place your cub hats on the dash of your vehicle.
Otherwise you will be charged full rate when you enter the track.
Since only this year's Sr. Webelos were in the pack at the time of the
last outing, prospective attendees may want to review the images from
the last trip to get an idea of what goes on. Those
images are located at:
Images temporarily offline.
The event at VIR this particular weekend is:

The MotorCheck Formula Car Festival
Featuring all open wheel race cars, the
MotorCheck Enduro Series and the Mike Stott-UBS Sprint Series.
Facilities

We will be camping on
the infield and it will be
quite similar to a normal camp-out except that at VIR you can typically
drive your vehicle right to where you would pitch your tent.
Please pack for a variety of weather conditions. It may be hot
now, but things can change quickly and there are few trees or other
objects to break-the-wind, so bring more clothes, jackets, etc. than
you think you will need.
We will have a group
fire. It will not
be on the ground as they are not allowed. As a result, bring
sufficient stoves, camping tables, etc. to cook your meals without
counting on the use of a fire. (Hint: we usually have too many
stoves and too few tables)
We will attempt a large pot of
Hombre Stew for dinner on Sat. Please bring a can or two of soup,
stew, vegetables for each person in your party (Cans only, no raw
vegetables or
meat). Avoid spicy contributions for the sake of small
stomachs. Extra cans can be donated for a food drive.
The stew ensures that everyone gets an opportunity to have a hot
and nutritious dinner, regardless of their camp cooking
skills. With a guaranteed group meal this leaves the
cooking field wide
open to each family and den for creativity. An individual
can try a risky meal, or a
den can plan a meal around their group, with different cub/Akela
pairs having different responsibilities. A particular individual
or den can volunteer to cook something for the entire pack (breads,
cakes, deserts, even a main course). Of course an individual is
always free to cook up a steak, hot dog, burger, etc., or just avail
themselves of the stew.
Specific to this event, BRING EAR PROTECTION!
Binoculars might be useful as well.
