Pack 334 returns to the Western Fort at McNeill Cub Scout World.

This is “cabin camping” in a palisades-style “fort” with indoor plumbing (but no heat).

In the past we have reserved the Tom Sawyer rafts and will plan to do so this year, weather permitting.  Please bring changes of clothing for the cubs as getting wet is a part of the Tom Sawyer rafts.  Regardless, there will likely be scary stories told and perhaps even an after dark trip to the nearby graveyard!  Please see our image gallery of previous trips
(http://www.pack334.org/public/docs/outings/FortMcNeil/).

Location & Directions:

Camp McNeill is owned by the Cape Fear Council, BSA, and is located near Elizabethtown, North Carolina on Highway 53, three miles west of White Oak, North Carolina 28399. For the Cape Fear Council map to the camp, visit http://www.capefearcouncilbsa.org/images/camp_map.jpg.

For Mapquest directions to White Oak, NC from St. Timothys, click HERE.

This is "drive up" camping, as there are roads all the way to the fort,  although we are required to move all vehicles back to the main lot after unloading.  There is a motivation to arrive before dark because the roads back to the fort from the main parking lot can be confusing.

Saturday Schedule:

Coming soon!

Anyone with an interest is encouraged to bring telescopes.  If it is a clear night, we can engage in star gazing.

Facilities:
Since this is cabin camping in bunk beds, bring sleeping bags.  Tents are not required, but if you prefer (as some do) there is a meadow next to the fort for tent camping.  Facilities are segregated by gender, so families may be separated.  As a result, families or mixed gender Akela/cubs sometimes wish to tent in order to sleep near one another.
