PACK 334 AT “FORT McNEILL”
November 7, 8 and 9, 2003
Pack 334 returns to the Western Fort at McNeill Cub Scout World in November. This is “cabin camping” in a palisades-style “fort” with indoor plumbing. We have reserved the Tom Sawyer rafts and will have a pack dinner with a western theme. We also plan to have t-shirts printed to commemorate this trip. Camp McNeill is owned by the Cape Fear Council, BSA, and is located near Elizabethtown, North Carolina on Highway 53, three miles west of White Oak, North Carolina. For information on the camp, visit http://www.capefearcouncilbsa.org.
The agenda for the weekend is as follow:
Friday, November 7, 2003:
7:00 p.m. Those who wish to camp Friday night are welcome to come
down and grab a bunk or set up camp. Dinner will be on your own. Weather permitting, we will try to set up a telescope or two.
Adults will practice yelling “No Running in Camp.”
10:00 p.m. Lights Out.
Saturday, November 8, 2003:
11:00 a.m. Saturday arrivals should plan to come by 11:30 a.m. to get organized. Lunches should be eaten and cleared by 1:00 p.m.
1:00 p.m. Den activities.
2:00 p.m. Tom Sawyer Rafts will be open. These wooden rafts are attached
to ropes spanning a small pond. We will stage races as the boys
move the rafts across the water by pulling on the (often slimy) rope. While waiting their turns, the other boys can play on the “pirate ship” docked nearby.
3:30 p.m. Unscheduled time. Consider bringing fishing equipment. Boys
with whittling chips may want to whittle away this time.
5:00 p.m. Dinner as a Pack. We plan a western theme.
6:30 p.m. Campfire activities immediately after dinner cleanup.
10:00p.m. Lights Out.
Sunday, October 12, 2003
8:00a.m. Following breakfast on your own, we will have a brief prayer then break camp.
Since this is cabin camping in bunk beds, bring sleeping bags (or sheets) and pillows. Tents are not required, but if you insist (as some do) there is a meadow next to the fort for tent camping. Facilities are segregated by gender, so families may be separated.
